We have a very tidy 05 plate Boxster in for a Suspension refresh. Just starting up this car and moving it into the workshop, you get a very good feeling of how much fun it must be to drive. The engine sounds terrific and you notice being mid engined, a lot closer to you than sister car, the 911.
The car feels well built, and although this is a relatively low mileage example, it’s in excellent condition for its 15 years of life.
The customer is fitting some KW Coilovers supplied by Balance Motorsport, which will lower the car slightly, as well as stiffening the springs. These kits are well made and well judged so that they don’t ruin the ride on our terrible UK roads.
The Porsche Boxster seems to represent amazing value for money at present, With examples changing hands for as little as £3500. granted, you will find some snobbery out there in the market, as the 911 is perceived to be a better car. Don’t let that put you off though, because it’s very telling that the fastest 911 of all, the RSR, uses a Mid Engined setup like the Boxster.

So I forgot to take a picture of the car, after it was washed in a most particular fashion, by chief engineer Craig. We ran out of time, it happens when you are doing a job right. However I did drive it, and it is a very special motor car. Excellent, nay brilliant engine, great noise, and a real feeling of engineering integrity. Impressive.
