Toyota
It’s fair to say, that apart from Le Mans 2023, Toyota have been on a roll. While most car makers have slavishly pushed overweight battery electric vehicles, Toyota was one of the first to develop Hybrid drivetrains and are also continuing to cater for the car enthusiast. There’s not enough space to go back to the late 1960’s today, we’re trying to talk about the recent history of Toyota.
Toyota 2012 on
Harking back to the Corolla AE86, Toyota brought out the modern interpretation the GT86 back in 2012, then there was the Supra, developed with BMW but standing high with its bold styling and the option of a manual gearbox. The short lived but driver focussed Yaris GRMN. Then we had the remarkable GR Yaris, the GR86 and the GR Supra. Meanwhile we’ve had BMW producing front ends so challenging to look at, you need a brown paper bag handy. Our love for Toyota has seen us have a number of cars cross our door of late.

COROLLA AE86 – recommision
Here’s a Toyota Corolla AE86 (in fact this is the JDM Sprinter Trueno) that we had in for recommissioning. Lots of work including Brakes both friction and hydraulics, Cambelt and Coilovers. These cars are amazing to drive, even if this one didn’t feel quite as crisp as the one I drove back in 1992 did. If you have one of these classic Toyota’s then let us look after it for you. In the background you can see a Toyota Land Cruiser – we don’t normally work on SUVs and 4WDs but this customer worked for Gordon Murray Automotive so we made an exception and changed the cylinder head outside!
