The DV6 engine (also know as the DLD engine) is a group of compact inline-four Diesel engines, involving development by Ford of Britain and/or PSA Group (Peugeot and Citroën), and also Mazda where it is called the MZ-CD or CiTD. The Ford of Britain/PSA and joint-venture for the production of the DLD/DV was announced in September 1998. Half of the total engine count are produced at Ford of Britain’s main plant at Dagenham, England and at Ford’s Chennai plant in India, the other half at PSA’s Trémery plant in France.
This engine appears in a whole raft of models Ford (Galaxy, Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta) , Peugeot (207, 208, 308, 508) Citroen (C3,C4,DS3), Volvo (C30, C40, S40, V40, V60, S80) Mazda (2,3 and 5).
There’s not a lot to say about changing a cambelt – the most important thing is to ensure the use of the correct special tools which we carry in stock.
The second is to use the best quality parts and to follow the workshop process to the letter.
These are the bullet points for the installation…
Disconnect the battery
- Raise the vehicle on a lift
- Disconnect fuel lines
- Plug fuel lines
- Disconnect hoses from the intercooler
- Remove front right wheel
- Remove wheel arch liner
- Remove engine lower cover
- Remove exhaust front flexible joint
- Turn crank to fit locking tool
- Lock flywheel
- Disconnect wiring loom and move aside
- Remove speed sensor
- Remove ancillary belt
- Remove timing belt upper cover
- Remove crank pulley
- Support engine
- Remove engine mount
- Remove old belt and tensioner and water pump
- Refit new belt and tensionser and water pump
- Check and double check timing tools and belt position
- Remove tools, turn engine by crank pulley
- Re-assemble as reverse of these instructions
