The Polo BlueGT features improved aerodynamics and a 1.4 turbocharged TSI engine from the new EA211 generation. This new engine features ACT (Active Cylinder Technology), a cylinder deactivation management which deactivates two cylinders at torque outputs from 18 lb ft to 74 lb ft. This clever bit of tech disables the valves on cylinder 2 and 3 (which then effectively just become air springs).
Sporting 138HP but with a startlingly low CO2 figure of 107 g/km (for reference a Citroen C1 emits just under 98g/km but only makes 67HP).
BlueGT engine produces an impressive peak torque of 184 lb⋅ft from 4,500-6,000 rpm, only 2 lb ft short of an early 3500cc V8 Rover engine.
